How did Toostis came about?

Toostis was created by Rimantas Šimanėlis Erte. On his cycling trip from Lithuania to Africa in 2006, while visiting many countries Rimas met lots of people, who would welcome him into their homes, invite for dinners and take him to town events. That's when Rimas first got an idea of an internet site where travellers could find out what's going on in every part of the world and plan their trips accordingly. He was developing and evolving the idea, which finally led to him becoming very fond of the concept of active social life. Upon the return from his trip, Rimas and a couple of like-minded friends decided to set up an internet site. On November 22, 2007, toostis.com was opened to an inner circle of friends who became the first users of the website, the pioneers of toostis. The site went through a development and redesigning stage, where various functions were being introduced and gotten rid of. On November 22, 2009, toostis.com was opened to the public.
